You Owe It to Yourself: Books to Read for Self-Development

We are like plants. We need water, we need sunlight, and we need food to grow. Feed your mind with information from these books. Some of these are about relationships, finance, self-love, and developing the mindset of a prolific, successful, individual. (Click on the images for more details or to purchase.)

What a Time to Be Alone: The Slumflower's Guide to Why You Are Already Enough

This book is for the over-thinkers, those who are healing, the self-doubters, and those who are ready to overcome. This book will not only help you fall in love with yourself again, but you will learn how to heal properly, celebrate yourself, and avoid toxicity in your friendships and relationships.

Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not!

This is one of my favorite books of all time. It's easy to read, a great story, very informative, and full of wisdom. Anyone seeking to become financially literate should start with this book. This book helps you understand money and how it works. You'll never spend the same again. It's the #1 Personal Finance book for a reason.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change

If you are a small business owner, procrastinator, or someone who is just looking to implement a better routine in their life, this book will be conducive to your journey. Here you would find the habits of those who have the success you want. The greatest book of all says to seek wise counsel. This book definitely has some of that wisdom we should seek.

Think and Grow Rich

I am going to be honest. This book is transformative. This book has been read by the most successful people you know and they've practiced the laws in it and applied it to their life. However, it starts off very boring in my opinion. Treat it as a textbook. Although it may start off slow, it is life-changing and you MUST read the whole thing and follow the directions. My life has shifted after reading this. I am so glad I sat down and seriously read this book. Please read this.I can't stress it enough.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life

The title is blunt and a bit funny but this has been one of the most important books I've ever read especially when I was dealing with post-graduation depression. Those who battle with anxiety, procrastination, and understanding negative situations and their purpose behind them, crack this book open. Manson shares his humorous yet, raw life experiences which are packed with wisdom and insight. He also shares the stories of other successful people who we never knew started off with the same issues, or worst than the ones we are dealing with now. He helps us compartmentalize what to give a f*ck about and what not to. He also gives us the reality check that we needed yesterday. This book will have you up making more moves and fewer excuses. Anyone who is feeling stagnant or struggling to find their purpose, please give this book a try. Without this book, Ravenrosado.net would still be an idea and not a blog you're reading now.

The 48 Laws of Power

I am convinced that this book has been written by a sociopath. However, this book gave me crazy insight on understanding people and their intentions, especially those who are in power or seek power. You will learn how to navigate around your narcissistic boss. You will understand why your partner is starving you of love and affection then pursuing you relentlessly once you're fed-up and about to leave. You will be able to spot jealousy and sneaky intentions. This books will keep you 3 steps ahead of the game. This is why I recommend this book. It's twisted yet filled with so many things you need to know.

I read 1-2 books a week. If you would like me to post more recommendations please let me know. Being an avid reader, especially an avid reader of books that contribute to self-development, has elevated my life in crazy ways.
