There's a lot of things we should leave behind. However, here's a few things we should definitely dunk in the trash in preparation for the new year.
Sharing Outdated Articles
"Y'all ain't ready for this conversation though" Um, cause we had it back in 2006 already. Also, how many times do we have to be reminded that Sherman Hemsley died? Every week we see "Noooo, not Mr. Jefferson". We have got to start reading more than the headline
Using 90's Throwbacks of Celebrity Women to Diss the Women of Today
Take a shot for every time you see a picture of Nia Long or Tatyana Ali, with the caption "They don't make em like this anymore" like women are made in some factory. Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful, talented women. However, so are today's women. Just like every generation, our styles have changed and that doesn't make us any less.
Misusing Go Fund Me
Go Fund Me is not for helping you get a new phone because you dropped it in the tub. It is not intended for you to get funding to start your cell phone case business. It is for extreme, tragic, misfortunate events such as illness and loss.
Sco tu pa and Bomboclat Twitter
Just tweet your random thoughts normally on Twitter and go y'all.
Situationships
Don't let anyone situationship you to death. If it feels like you're in a relationship but you're not, then something isn't right. There needs to be boundaries established so that no one gets hurt. Don't let anyone take up your space for their selfish intentions.
Dissing the Current Generation --Everybody sucked
Yeah, back in the day men would put their jacket down on a puddle of water to let the lady cross but, he also had another family 10 miles down the road and no one will ever find out about it because there was no Twitter or Instagram to catch him up on it. Don't worry though. The Mrs. is fine. Uncle Ray who ain't her brother has been keeping her company in his absence. Every generation was flawed from dating to morals to pesky technology. Contrary to some's belief though, we are improving.
Public Humiliation
Taking pictures of people in Walmart is fun and games until one day a picture of you with the hoodie you took out the dryer to run to the store really fast in (that has a bra stuck to the back of it) is all over Facebook. It's bullying y'all. I know it has to hurt to see a picture of you minding your business circling around the internet for you and your loved ones to see. There's better use for your camera.
Putting Quotes on Celebrities Faces Who Never Said That Quote
"Respect our privacy. The world doesn't need to know what we go through" in comic sans was plastered on a picture of T.I. and being shared on Facebook. Now you KNOW he did not say that. Put your nice quote on a nice royalty-free picture so we can take it seriously.
Counting Other People's Money
"Doesn't she drive a 2003 Nissan, how is she always traveling?". Allow people to enjoy their life and spend money on things that are important to them. Her 2003 Nissan is paid for and she has experienced the world. I'd rather travel and not pay a car note too. No matter what your financial situation is, you deserve a fun, enjoyable life.
Announcing "Silent" Moves
It's okay to be excited about what you want in life but do more walking and less talking. "Y'all don't even know what's coming up. I'ma stay silent though." That's dope but take a good page out of my sis Beyonce's book and jut drop the project without mentioning about how you're not going to mention it.
Name something you feel we should leave in 2019 and share.
