Things to Remember When You Get Discouraged

You've put in the work. You did the research. You've worked yourself tirelessly yet your goals seem further away than before you've started. As a result, your motivation has been dwindling away. You spend more time on memes than your dreams. It sucks, but it's normal. Everyone who has what you want has been in this space before. There's no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs, and I know you've been stepping but you have some more flights to go. I also know that you're tired but you don't need to quit. You just need to recharge. Here are a few reminders you should remember before you throw the towel in.

Rome Was Not Built In One Day

Six months of consistency can put you years ahead. What you're working on may seem like it's not becoming much however, you must realize that your goals are built brick by brick. Each act of daily effort adds up. That includes planning, reading, execution, and reaching out to wise counsel. You are literally contributing building blocks to your palace. One day you will finally see the fruits of your labor. Bad decisions work the same way too. The longer you neglect yourself, the results will show. The more unhealthy things you eat, one day you will see how many of those poor decisions have taken a toll on your health. The formula of consistency has never changed so keep doing great things consistently no matter how long it takes. A great foundation takes time. If you don't believe me, I dare you to go live in a house that was built in a day and see how much you like it.

Your Goals Aren't Meant for Everyone to Understand

Be careful of naysayers. Naysayers aren't necessarily bad people. Some naysayers are people who actually have your best interest at heart. Your naysayers can be your parents, siblings, and best friends. It's not that they don't want you to win, they put limitations on themselves, so it's natural for them to put them on you. The goal seems impossible for them to reach so they think it will be nearly impossible for you too. They don't want to see you hurt, or waste your time. Although their intentions are sweet, they do happen to be wrong. That's why the road to success can get lonely because the only person believing in you, is you. Outside discouragement is very distracting because you already have to battle your inner doubts. With that being said, you have to keep affirming words of accomplishment and motivation onto your life. You have to do more and say less. It's better to share things once you've completed them so there's no bursting your bubble.

Bad Days Are Character Building Days

Did you fail at something? Good. You're struggling? Great. Did you lose your investment? Perfect. You just gained more knowledge so when you start again, you aren't starting from scratch. You now know what mistakes to avoid. You're closer to cracking the code. These lessons are great because you're acquiring tools on how to troubleshoot. Every smart business has something called a "contingency budget" that budget is a safety net for when things go wrong. Businesses learned to incorporate that in their budget through mistakes and/or other businesses' mistakes. Life is inevitable but the art of it is that it teaches you how to be proactive instead of reactive. It also teaches you how to handle adversity. That is a perfect skill to have because you can't crumble every time something goes wrong. Healthily process your emotions and keep it moving. You got things to get done. Every storm runs out of the rain so don't let rainy days consume you.

Walk by Faith and Not By Sight

You may not see oxygen but you know it's there and you take a breath with confidence, knowing that it will supply. That's the kind of faith you need to have in your path. You will not always see the progress nor any indication of what the future may hold but you need to trust that good things are in the works and on the way. Things may even look horrible but it only takes one moment to change everything around. That's why it's imperative not to ditch all the hard work you've put into your dreams. You're already in pain, now gain something from it.

Although these things are easier said than done, they are true. When you quit, you know how things are going to end. You've chosen to end the path. However, when you continue to take chances on yourself, you will be surprised at what consistency and the law of attraction will provide you. Keep adding bricks to your palace. Take things day by day. Use your time intentionally. You will soon see for yourself that you are your BEST investment.

  2. Great post! These are the things that often get forgotten when you are going through. The one about naysayers was right on point.
