This question has lingered over me ever since I heard it. "If all your insecurities disappeared today, what would you be doing?" I began to visualize myself without self-doubt. Raven who didn't doubt herself didn't talk herself out of embracing her gifts. She never questioned if she was adequate enough to hold them. Raven who didn't feed into self-conscious thoughts wore anything she wanted without changing into 4 different outfits just to end up balling them up and throwing them into the bottom of her closet. She wore her curls out, shrinkage and all. She unapologetically came for everything they said she could not have. Even if she was scared, she did it scared.
After that question was asked, a challenge to the question followed. The challenge was to pretend like those insecurities aren't there and do everything you told yourself you would do if those insecurities never existed. Write that book. Wear that dress. Wash your hair and go. Open that business you keep saying the market is too saturated for. It's easier said than done however, we must note that visualization means nothing without faith. Overcoming requires walking by faith and not by sight.
That question and that challenge were transformative for me. My subconscious mind eats what I feed it. If I affirm and act upon the life I visualize having, I will attract it. If I continue to doubt myself and speak negative things into my life, I will attract that as well. Words have seeds. I could grow fruit or I could grow weeds. The choice is mine. I've learned once we realize that we have more control over our lives than we think, we will live more abundantly. Feeding your desires instead of your insecurities will propel you to places you've never been but were always meant to be.
